| Hi everyone, Just checking in as new to the site. Someone pointed me in this direction from Scoobynet so thought I'd join and see what's going on a bit more local to me!! This is my first Scooby although I've had modified cars before - the best being a Fiat Coupe 20V Turbo that was around the 350Bhp mark when I sold it - then along came a couple of kids, a more sensible car................................boredom (with the car, not the kids!!) - then 6 years later the wife has the sensible car so I've got my hobby car again!!!! I have a 98 Classic UK 2000 Turbo AWD that has been well looked after and has a few basic mods such as STi Intercooler, Prodrive Exhaust with Race Cat, K & N Induction, Samco pipes, HKS Spark plugs and on the stopping side grooved and vented discs with red stuff pads (how do people find these?, I find they are prone to fade when cooler so wondering if that's normal or if they need replacing). On the body side it also has a few bits such as STi spoiler and front grille etc. I will take pics but its in having the roof resprayed at the moment as it had a bit of bubbling where the roof meets the windscreen where water had gotten in under the seals etc. I've already booked her in for rear window tints, ICE install and then a fitting in April for a Walbro 255, ECU upgrade and remap!!!!!! Sweet!!! You may think I'm mad buying a 98 and then spending so much straight away and say why didn't I go for a newer model WRX, STi etc - I just love the classic, I like the newer designs but it's the classic shape that does it for me!!!!! Wow, long post for a first!!!! Hopefully get to a meet at some point and say hello - I've seen you all (I assume it was you lot) park in the Cat and Fiddle Car Park a couple of times and thought 'I'll be there soon' so hopefully will. Cheers. |

Just got tickets for Japfest, anyone else from here going? Do you have a convoy arranged at all? Is the club entered into any of the comps?

Ah cool, I'll definitely pop along and say Hi and watch some of the sessions. Not sure if my car will be ready in time yet so may not be able to take the Scooby but we'll see. It's booked in to have a few upgrades the first week in May inc a new ECU and mapping etc so not sure if I'll have it back in time.
Must avoid Japfest retail village!!!!!

It's being done by Enginetuner in Plymouth - not sure which one I'm going to go for yet, they have a few options. Any recommendations for the Classic (98)?????? |

He mentioned the ESL board (I assume it was that one, an add on board to allow connection to the older ECU with the SSM protocol rather than ODBII!!) but I've mostly chatted about replacement ECU so yes, both the simtek and syvecs but also another one. I've only really had a basic chat for now as my car is currently in a body shop having the bubbling removed from the roof and resprayed etc down in Exeter, he is only 20 odd miles up the road so I'll probably pop in and let him look at the car before making a descision. Do you have any advice on that or are they all pretty much the same thing in terms of results???? |
